Opening Times
Open Tuesday –?Sunday, 10am – 5pm.
Closed on Mondays, apart from on bank holidays.
Changeover
When an exhibition at Turner Contemporary finishes and ahead of an installation of new one there is a short period called changeover which means that the gallery, cafe and shop are open as usual but there may be a limited amount of artwork to see.
We will flag changeover periods on the website and social media but please check before you visit if you want to come and see something specific.
Our next changeover period is: TBC
Turner Contemporary is located in Margate on the North Kent Cost in the South East of England.
Margate is only a 90 minute drive?or?train journey from Central London.
Exhibitions at Turner Contemporary are free for all to enjoy. We run a rolling programme of workshops and events.
Travelling by car
If you are travelling to Turner Contemporary by car please be aware that we don’t have dedicated parking spaces apart from a limited number of disabled spaces on the piazza at the front of the gallery. These spaces are signposted.
There is ample parking across Margate which is within a 3-10 minute walk from the Gallery.
Parking
The gallery only has onsite disabled parking (seven spaces) on the piazza at the front of the gallery. These spaces are signposted. The seafront piazza is for pedestrians and cyclists only and must be kept clear at all times for the RNLI lifeboat in case of emergencies.
There is on-street parking near the gallery (on the Harbour Arm next to the gallery, charges apply), as well as pay and display car parks close by:

Travelling By train
Southeastern run high speed trains from London St Pancras?and?Stratford International every hour which take under 90 minutes to Margate station.
Southeastern also runs mainline trains from London Victoria,?Cannon Street,?Charing Cross?and?London Bridge, but will take a little longer.
Book Your Ticket with Southeastern
A limited number of Eurostar trains stop at Ashford International which can connect with trains to Margate (journey time approximately 20 to 40 minutes).
Toilets
You can find the men’s, women’s and disabled toilets on the ground floor.
Lockers
Lockers are located opposite the toilets and are available to use for a £1 non-refundable fee. Our lockers can accomodate a large backpack but are not suitable for large luggage.
Baby Changing Facilities
Baby changing facilities are located on the ground floor.
